I lived in Spain for my junior year of college, well over 50 years ago. The paella my host family made was my favorite food of all time. Luckily I got the recipe from my host mother and made it for special occasions over the years. My greatest disappointment when visiting Spain (even/especially Valencia) in recent decades is how different from my ideal the paella tastes. I know that that paella is not something to eat in restaurants--it's something for the extended family to make on Sundays when they all get together. Since I don't have that option, I have kept hopefully trying paella at restaurants whenever I visit Spain. Today, I found the closest thing yet to the flavor I remember, at Cas Carreter. This was our second to last day of a two month trip in Spain, and after a few disappointments we were so happy we dared to order the seafood paella. It was close to perfect! The atmosphere was wonderful too. If we're ever back on Mallorca, we will visit again!

Wonderfully helpful friendly team, loved the traditional decor, so dated it’s kind of retro cool and the food was delicious.
A great find as a very authentic Spanish restaurant. The waiting staff were very pleasant with a great sense of humour. The paella was one of the best that I have had. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and would return again.
superb little restaurant with great food and great customer service. Please encourage reservations only as disruptions from walk-ins was unfair to busy staff!
Very nice place a little further away from the tourist crowds (definitely a good thing). Food was really good, the lobster paella was amazing. They even catered our special requests! Service was kind and fast. I'm pretty sure we chose the best place to have lunch in Sóller.
